Located in Eastern Zambia, the South Luangwa National Park lies in the Luangwa Valley at Africa’s great-rift-valley tail. Running through the middle of park’s 3,475 sq.mile area is the Luangwa River carving out its own path on its way to the Zambezi. This has resulted in the creation of a spectacular-escarpment leaving plenty of hippo and fish-filled ox-bows and lagoons. Hippo’s pods of the South Luangwa National Park are particularly famous and you can see them relaxing in Luangwa River and its lagoons. You also get to see large herds of buffalos and lions & leopards on the hunt. The South Luangwa National Park is also among the very few of national parks allowing night-drives and you are also most likely to spot a leopard in this park.

Birds are usually not the primary focus of a safari but they do enhance the overall experience.
