Its official people – times, they are a-changin’! The honeymoon was once a sacred and much-needed escape for a couple, away from the tiring weeks of leading to a wedding ceremony, but now it has become an escape from your husband or wife as well. There is an increasing number of people who would like to go on their honeymoons, but not with their spouses and not to the same destination. This new ‘relationship goal’ has been trending and was recently put into the limelight once again by many American, English and Irish media. This article is going to be more of a discussion or a debate on this matter, and we would love to hear from you regarding this new trend.
Twitterati Tweets
After a brief research, we found a list of articles on the internet, all recently posted by key media giants, indicating the rise of the uni-moons or solo-moons, as they have come to be known. Some love the idea, but others abhor it. There is a section in the society that would enjoy a break not only from their jobs but also from their partners after a wedding, and they desire to be left alone for a while and rejuvenate after a wedding event. Others think that this rejuvenation and relaxation should be done as a couple, both contemplating the future of their relationship in a more private setting.
Before writing this article, we went through the twitter handle “#solomoons” to see how the people are responding to this idea. There were mixed reviews, but both were convincing. Some people were curious about having a solo-moon; others were already planning one. Here are the comments of people who responded to having a solomoon or a unimoon positively.

Been married 17 years never had a honeymoon. Maybe that's what I'm missing the #solomoon

However, there were some who thought that it defeated the purpose of being in a marriage and starting a new life journey by celebrating a wedding alone is not suitable for developing a long-lasting relationship.
Wait. How did #solomoon became a thing? Also WHY did it became a thing?

The Debate
TravelhouseUK has been a leading member of the travel and tourism industry in the UK. We do not have any opinion on the above debate, but we do provide our services to all those who wish to travel for their honeymoons or unimoons. We believe that a relation between two people is their own business and as long as both parties are consenting and aware of their actions, we could only be happy for them.
People who are already leaving for their second unimoon argue that they have been in a relationship with their significant other for a very long time. At the end of a very tiring wedding event, it would be perhaps better for their psychological health to spend some time alone or with their family and friends so that they could unwind. Most couples do not agree as to where they should be spending their honeymoons in the first place. There are instances when men in a relationship would like to go to Spain and watch their favourite football team defeat a rival, which is not that appealing for their less athletically charged wives. The wives, on the other hand, would like to go to Iceland or Canada, away from the rest of the world, where they could relax and see the aurora lights. Why both of them cannot get what they want? After all, they are in a relationship built on trust and mutual respect. Forcing your spouse to enjoy the thing you like can put a strain on the marriage. Younger couples and millennials are more keen on for having solo honeymoons, as some have jobs that require them to defend their corporate forts at all times. Others are not as fortunate as their partners in securing a similar number of days off for their honeymoons. By allowing each other this freedom and finding the joy in the happiness of your spouse, people have begun to appreciate and encourage their partners to go on #unimoons.
On the other hand, some people see unimoons as an unnecessary invention of the new age. They believe that no matter how long you have been in a relationship, a marriage is a milestone and needs to be celebrated on a united honeymoon. A husband or a wife is a person who completes you spiritually, physically and emotionally and separation at this time when that bond needs to be cherished and celebrated will eventually yield into marriage troubles.
Top Three Honeymoon Destinations 2019
Meanwhile, during this honeymoon season 2019, more people are booking cheap flights to destinations like Saint Lucia, Italy and Bali. Whether you are planning for a unimoon or a honeymoon or a bit of both, please let our agents know. We will design an elaborate and affordable marriage vacation for you and the love of your life. Saint Lucia
The cheapest flights to Saint Lucia from the UK are with British Airways. These direct flights operate out of London Gatwick Airport, and the round trip flight to this Caribbean destination is not more than £650 per person, even in the high season around the month of July. In the low season, these prices come down to £450. Three direct BA flights are leaving for Saint Lucia every week.
Sulphur Springs a few kilometres south of Soufriere is a popular tourist destination in Saint Lucia. The healing hot waters of the spring leach the toxins from the body, sooth the joints, relax the muscles and calms the nerves. Another favourite tourist activity is to climb the Gros Piton, which is the tallest mountain in the area, covered in green and misty blue vegetation and visible from your beachside hotel. It’s a bit cooler at the top, and the views of the endless ocean and the emerald city of Saint Lucia are breathtaking. We recommend that you visit the Crystal Lime bar at least two times a week for a drink or two and order something simple and clean and definitely on the rocks. There are reliable facilities available for zip-lining through the forest and scuba diving into the azure ocean teeming with marine life. Saint Lucia is the perfect place to celebrate your marriage; be it together or separately.
Italy
Italy is not far from the UK, and you will always be only a two-hour flight away from your home. Even after Brexit, the round trip direct flight from London to Rome would not exceed £100 to £140 range in the high summer season. Spending the summer in Italy is possible by booking a cheap British Airways flight to Rome that operates 40 times a week. BA 552 is the busiest flight taking off from London’s Heathrow to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport every day at 7 in the morning.
There is so much to do in Italy. There are tourist attractions and historical places in every village of the country but if you are in Rome, visiting the Vatican is a must. The city has over nine hundred and fifty churches, all of them more than a hundred years old. They are ornately designed and held in their walls is the spirit of Roma that is centuries old. Visit the St Peter’s Museum for a trip through history. Italy is also known for the Alps and the skiing and hiking opportunities in the north of the country. The Uffizi Art Gallery in Florence contains the works of the Italian Renaissance masters. The gallery’s artefacts were a gift from the last of the Medici to the citizens of Tuscany. If you still have time, visit the Italian Riviera and let the go of your troubles on your Italian honeymoon or unimoon.
Indonesia
The fifteen-hour journey from London to Bali is made easy by the direct flight offered by Garuda Indonesia. In the June to August summer high season, the tickets do become a bit expensive. One round trip ticket costs around £700 to £750. The Indonesian airline’s flight number GA 87 transports passengers from London to Bali on a cheap direct flight. This flight is operated three times a week; on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, at 10 in the morning.
While Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, Bali is a Hindu majority island. The first thing to explore in Bali is the beautiful temples dotted all over the island. The island’s beaches are considered the best in the world. After basking in the heavenly rays of the sun, opt for a Balinese massage and a cream bath. Skin treatments like these revitalise the spirit. Imagine having a fish spa, looking up to see the swaying palm trees amongst the turquoise waters as the nibbling-swimmers eat the dead fish off of your feet and hands. The Ubud River flows through the heart of the island surrounded by tropical rainforests that stun white water rafters in more ways than one. For those who would like to mark their wedding with a little more excitement, Bali is the place for you both or just you.
